If you're looking for the perfect Christmas light road trip and you're looking for the very best one, don't knock yourself out. More and more homes and businesses are becoming unhinged when it comes to light displays. I don't think you'll be disappointed wherever you might land.

However, if you are looking for guidance, three amazing holiday light displays all claim to be the biggest in Kentucky. But I doubt that whoever really gets the proverbial blue ribbon in this discussion'll offer up an eye-popping presentation.

Lights Under Louisville

So what do you do with a gigantic cave under your city? You make it one of the most popular attractions in Kentucky. That's what. The Louisville Mega-Cavern has become a go-to destination for ziplining enthusiasts. However, during the holiday season, the cavern exchanges those ziplines for millions of Christmas lights. Keep this in mind, though...if you go, bring conversation topics for your vehicle. The line is long, and you will wait. But it's worth it.

Kentucky Horse Park Southern Lights

You'd better crank up "Sleigh Ride" for this one. I mean, I can't think of a better Christmas carol if you're driving through one of the nation's premier horse parks during the holiday season. Presented by Friends of Coal, the Kentucky Horse Park Southern Lights is the perfect way to cap off an evening this season. Just turn off the headlights, and get ready for a magical three-mile tour.

Buffalo Trace Spirited Nights

One of Kentucky's biggest exports gets in on the Christmas action at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort. Spirited Nights is a complimentary event at the distillery and is open on select December evenings. And despite the fact that it's at a distillery, Spirited Nights is open to guests of all ages.

Christmas at Panther Creek

It sounds like a fun Christmas excursion, no doubt. But since I'm from Owensboro, I have to recommend you make Christmas at Panther Creek part of your journey, and Merry Christmas.

I don't know if they're the largest, but I never miss them, if that tells you anything.
