"Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun." Well, sort of! With McDonald's new menu item, the classic Big Mac gets a bit of a twist.

The Chicken Big Mac has been such a hit that it is finally being launched in the United States. So, just like the old jingle we all know by heart by now, it will have "two CHICKEN patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun."

I heard the news from my favorite food blogger, Snackolator. He mentioned almost two years ago, I think, that this new take on a long-time favorite sandwich was being tested in international markets like the U.K. before being introduced in Miami. It was then featured at a pop-up experience in Los Angeles called McDonnell's, but diners weren't told what it was.  Those flavors are undeniable though, and many folks participating knew exactly what was up.

A friend of mine who used to work for McDonald's said that she used to make this for herself for lunch all the time. Her recommendation? Extra special sauce. She also suggested swapping the regular chicken patties for spicy chicken patties. For fans of food with a kick, that sounds really good! Here's how the nutritional facts shake out for this bad boy:

The Chicken Big Mac will be available in McDonald's restaurants for a limited time starting October 10th. Will you try it?
