Softball Stars From Daviess County Chase Their Little League World Series Dreams
For the first time in history, a softball team consisting of players representing Daviess County have the chance to play their way to the Little League Softball World Series. The team- consisting of players from Daviess, Ohio, Henderson, Union, and Muhlenberg County- recently plowed their way through the District 1 Championship in Bowling Green!

'Plow' may be an understatement. During that tournament, this particular Daviess County team showed why they are indeed special and may be destined for Little League greatness. They stormed their way to that district title by scoring 40 runs and holding their opponents to none. They're now setting their sites on Ashland, Kentucky, which will host the State Championship in early July. The team is set to head to the tournament on July 4th.
THE LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES
If the team wins state, they'll travel to Indianapolis to play in the Super Regionals, where they'll have the opportunity to earn a spot in Greenville, North Carolina, the host city for the 2025 Little League Softball World Series.
Obviously, there's still a lot of softball to be played. But, team fan Amy Nonweiler says, "This is something that many girls over the years have dreamed about- having the chance to play softball in the Little League World Series on ESPN."
And that's exactly where the World Series will take place- on the fields in Greenville and on TV. Little League Softball® was established way back in 1974 and, according to the official website, today there are approximately 300,000 athletes in more than 25 countries participating in Little League Softball programs.
THE LITTLE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES BRACKET
The Daviess County team will be playing their hearts out for the chance to get there. While we don't yet know which teams will be competing, the 2025 Little League World Series bracket is already published. As you'll see, the United States teams will play on one side of the bracket, with international teams (such as Europe-Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Canada) battling it out on the other side of the bracket.
Amy says, "These girls work so hard to dedicate so much time to the sport of the softball. To have this chance is so exciting!" Their fans are confident in this team. "These girls are pumped and ready for the challenge!"
In addition to the Daviess County 12U team winning the district title, the Daviess County 8U and 10U girls did as well.
