Local Artist In Old Country Music Book I Found
I love going through boxes of old stuff in the attic and find a really cool surprise! Recently I can across just that. While cleaning out my storage room, I found a book (could be considered more of a magazine) from 1996. It is called “The Best of Country Music”.
Now I started looking through the book, trying to remember where and when I got it. And for the life of me, I still can’t remember. I use to spend a lot of time in Nashville, and in the record shops down there, so I probably found it in one of them.
The book has some really cool information in it. There is a little country trivia, and some country music attractions around Tennessee. But the really cool part is that most of the book is filled with information on the artists of the time. It includes a picture and bio of the artists as well as other info like birthdate, hometown, and even fan club info!
A lot of the artists I remember like: Trisha Yearwood, Brooks & Dunn, David Ball, Alan Jackson and many more. Then there were some artists that I had forgotten like: Daryle Singletary, Jeff Carson, Ken Mellons, and a few others.
Probably the coolest thing in the book was a local guy. Jon Brennan was featured in the book! It was really interesting to see a local face in the book and it even mentions Owensboro as his hometown!
There was also a really nice tribute to Minnie Pearl on one of the opening pages.
This book was a great trip into the past and a great example of the treasures you can find when you least expect it!
