Meet the New WBKR Intern – Jacob Calloway
MEET ME
Hey everybody, my name is Jacob Calloway and I’m a Music Business major at Murray State University.
I’m 20-years-old and have lived in Owensboro all my life. I graduated from Daviess County High School in 2019.
I'VE ALWAYS HAD A LOVE OF MUSIC
One of my favorite things to enjoy in life is music. I’ve been surrounded by music for most of my life, from taking music classes in elementary school to being in band throughout middle school, high school, and college. Music has always been a part of my daily life and I’m happy to continue that here at WBKR.
MY PERSONAL FAVORITE MUSIC
I play a variety of instruments, my main instrument being Euphonium, but I also play piano and want to learn how to play bass. My favorite genres of music are hyperpop, show tunes, and country but I like listening to pretty much everything.
MY LIFE AT MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY
During my time at Murray State, with plenty of clubs, fraternities, and electives to choose from, I’ve found a home in esports. Esports is competitive gaming, think of it just like you would football or basketball but in a virtual form. I joined the Overwatch (a 6v6 competitive game) Varsity team my sophomore year and have been there ever since.
We compete against other universities across the United States, and we even traveled to the University of Kentucky to compete in a tournament. This past semester we had an undefeated regular season, and I can’t wait to get back next semester.
SEE YOU AROUND THIS SUMMER
I’m really excited to spend my summer here at WBKR and learn everything there is to learn about a radio station. I’m also excited to help out with all of the charity events we do here at WBKR and I can’t wait to see you all there.
