About halfway through the Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair Pageant Saturday evening in Louisville, Laura Leonard make a Facebook post celebrating the fact that her daughter Shaylee had just made the Top 15.

Laura posted, "Top 15!!! That's what she asked for."

As it turned out, Shaylee got much more, way more than she had asked and hoped for. At the end of the pageant, the Owensboro, Kentucky teenager was crowned Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair.

Photographer and family friend Rob Metzger captured those exact moments Shaylee had dreamed about. It's amazing when dreams become reality and it's even sweeter when those moments are immortalized in photos. These pics are sensational!

Shaylee's win is historic as well. This gets a little confusing if you're not involved in the pageant circuit, but here's how she made history.

Many pageants within the Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair system are open. That means any contestant from any county can compete in them. For the 2023 pageant, Shaylee, who's from Daviess County, was actually representing Edmonson County. Earlier this year, she took that crown at that local pageant to earn her way to state.

Needless to say, she represented Edmonson County beautifully and gave the county something they had never experienced before at the state level- the winner!

Like Shaylee's mom Laura, the team in Edmonson County celebrated their big win on social media.

Shaylee has worked exceptionally hard in the pageant circuit and those efforts have certainly paid off. I have known Shaylee for years and I can tell you that her hard work takes place behind the scenes as well.

In addition to competing on the pageant circuit, Shaylee has devoted herself to raising money for the patients of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She started that fundraising campaign last year as Miss Teen McLean County and, this past February, made a big donation to the WBKR Window World St. Jude Radiothon. The amount? $698.50. And, as you would expect, she's already started fundraising for the 2024 event.

Congratulations, Shaylee! You've already represented Daviess, McLean and Edmonson County so incredibly well. Now, you get to represent the entire state and we have no doubts you're going to reign like a queen.
