Get Ready For Mix Tape Mania Trivia At Brew Bridge

When I was growing up, my whole life was built around mix tapes. It's no wonder I have a career in radio because, in the early 80s, I was obsessed with Casey Kasem. He was my idol.

Every Sunday morning at 9am, I turned on the radio and listened to countdowns just like that one in the video.

I had a ritual. I would get my cassette recorder ready and record every single new song that debuted in the countdown and any that I may have missed in the weeks prior. I did this for years and had endless amounts of cassette tapes with virtually every song in the 80s that hit the Billboard Top 40.

I was so obsessed with countdowns that I even created my own when I wrote for Daviess County Middle School's newspaper- The Panther Press. Literally, I walked around the school and asked my classmates what their favorite songs were. I compiled the results and published a countdown in every edition of the paper. My life truly was music and mix tapes.

MIX TAPE TRIVIA IN OWENSBORO

So, imagine my delight to learn that an Owensboro non-profit has created a fundraiser called Mix Tape Mania Trivia Night. It's set for Friday, March 13th and The Center for Owensnoro-Daviess County is hosting it.

Jill Thompson, who served as the emcee last year, is back again this year. According to Erica Wade, the Executive Director of The Center, the most popular categories last year were the ones involving music. So, by request, this year's event will be completely music driven.

Erica says, "Think Pitch Perfect, but louder and wildly off-key."

The night will feature five 'high-energy' trivia rounds with 10 questions each. In between those rounds, there will be random karaoke competitions and other friendly battles among tables and contestants.

Mix Tape Mania Trivia is set for 6pm at Brew Bridge in downtown Owensboro. The cost is $500 per table or 8 and that ticket price includes heavy appetizers from Brew Bridge.
