Sometimes, as mothers, we come across scenarios where the only response is to close our eyes and take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth. To ground ourselves and muster up the patience to refrain from fussing or hype ourselves up to communicate in a peaceful way.

There are definitely times when an "Are you KIDDING ME?!" or "I'm gonna yank a knot in your tail!" Or "You have GOT to be joking!" just blurts right out before I can stop it. The last time that happened for me, I was walking into the kitchen to get myself a couple of Girl Scout cookies.  Humming a happy tune, I opened the cabinet. Cookies were nowhere to be found.

You HAVE GOT to be kidding. I am the one who thought to order them, looked up my little cookie dealer's special website, picked out the new flavors and old favorites I wanted to enjoy. Only to have them eaten out from under me by my own family! The precious loved ones I would jump in front of a car for. BETRAYAL.

To add insult to injury, I turn to walk back to the living room and there on the dining room table...the empty package of Lemon-ups mixed with UNO cards. Clearly, I missed a really great time as well. Cool, cool, cool. Anyway, I shake it off and decide I'll just order some more. I mean, it's for a good cause, right?

And THIS time, I have an idea. Inspired by a woman who took to social media to share a long-held secret she has kept from her loved ones. In order to protect herself from her husband and kids ravaging the snacks and drinks, she kept a little hidey hole in the back of the fridge. It was hidden in plain sight, well...kinda.

For TWENTY years! This also proves that no one in the family, other than Mom, really cleans out the fridge or moves things around to find the ketchup. I guess that is a perk of being the only one who knows where everything is! You can hide your goodies easily because no one will even truly look.

Moms, do you have a special hidey-hole for candy, drinks, or special treats to protect them from your family? Gotta make sure you can get that emergency can of Diet Coke when you need it! Chime in on Facebook or send me a message, and we can commiserate on the AppChat.

How Many of These Kentucky Attractions Have You Visited?

Let's see how much you've traveled the Bluegrass State. Go through the list and see which attractions you've visited and which you still have on a "to-do" list. I need to get busy, too.
