It was in late November when the bad news came that Montgomery Gentry's Eddie Montgomery had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Regardless of whether or not you hear a prognosis, the reaction is always the same. And it came in a year that saw Montgomery Gentry and longtime record label SONY Nashville part company. The news of Eddie's illness was followed in December by the announcement that his wife had asked for a divorce.  But, finally, the news is good.

Eddie Montgomery underwent surgery on December 20th and, this weekend, was declared by his doctor to be cancer-free. Eddie and Troy celebrated by performing at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday night, their first appearance of the new year. A USO tour is underway and hopefully they'll be getting back into the studio this year--under a whole new banner. Lookin' forward to it.
