We have received word from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that a multi-vehicle crash has occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway between Beaver Dam and Central City.  And the parkway is closed in both directions.

According to KY Transportation Cabinet spokesperson Keith Todd, a multi-vehicle crash occurred near mile marker 61 and has caused the closure of the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway.  Early reports indicate that a semi crashed and was then subsequently hit by another semi and passenger vehicle.  At this time, we have no information about any injuries or fatalities associated with this accident.

Because of the extent of the crash, It's estimated that the lanes of the Western Kentucky Parkway will closed up to four hours.  Here's the detour information.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured off at Exit 58 to US 431 North to US 62 East to return to the parkway at Beaver Dam.

Westbound WK Pkwy traffic is being detoured off at Beaver Dam to US 231 North, then west on US 62 to return to the parkway at the Central City Exit.

We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available to us.

UPDATE: Both lanes are now open. Kentucky State Police report 24-year-old Brooks Bowling of Louisville was driving a box truck west when he crashed into an abandoned vehicle in the emergency lane; his vehicle overturned onto its side blocking both westbound lanes. No injuries were reported.
