It's a good thing I have a smart phone or I wouldn't have seen the breaking news on Twitter. #9 Murray State was the last undefeated team in the country. Thursday night, Tennessee State beat the Racers at home 72-68, proving the Ohio Valley Conference is no joke. It's true Murray State has been considered a non-factor when it comes to talk about possible #1 seeds in next month's NCAA tournament, but they held out longer than: Baylor, Syracuse, and the team which will probably capture the overall #1 seed, Kentucky. So where will the Racers end up?

If they win their conference tournament, which who knows if they will now, they will get an automatic bid. I think the talk now should turn to, how many other OVC teams deserve a shot at March Madness? Tennessee State is currently ranked 2nd in the conference with another team that nearly beat Murray State a week ago, Southeast Missouri State right behind in 3rd. Both teams haven't really had a tough non-conference schedule. An interesting fact, Tennessee State lost to Western Kentucky (we all know how that has turned out) and they also were drummed by North Carolina, both were road games. Maybe neither team deserves a shot, but March is a dangerous time for hungry mid-major conference schools to sneak in and pull off a few upsets.

I'm already dreading the many pools I participate in. But I love it!
