As the old song goes, what are you doing New Year's Eve? Honestly, over the last several years, more and more people I know have stayed close to home, watched the ball drop in Times Square, and turned in early...at least by New Year's Eve standards.

But if that is not your cup of tea when it comes to ringing in the new year, then you will have options on December 31st. Well, there are always options, but have you ever considered spending the holiday at one of Kentucky's awesome state parks? They're trotting out their finest for the occasion, and you could right there in the middle of the celebration.

New Year's Eve at Kentucky State Parks

If this becomes your New Year's Eve plan, you'll have multiple Kentucky State Parks to choose from, and there will be plenty of food. Pennyrile Forest, KenLake, Pine Mountain, Natural Bridge, and Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Parks will be trotting out their finest (massive buffets, live entertainment, breakfast, cash bars, hors d'oeuvres, party favors, etc.) as they welcome hundreds of guests for an enormous celebration.

Winter Activities at Kentucky State Parks

If you think a New Year's Eve party is all there is to do at Kentucky State Parks during the winter, think again. For one thing, the trails are open year-round. Obviously, you'll need to bundle up, but they're open. Here's naturalist Robert Myers, courtesy of LEX18 in Lexington, with more.

Maybe a New Year's Eve getaway is just what the doctor ordered to wrap up a hectic holiday season. So pick a park, and raise a glass to 2026.
