NWS Warns of Severe Storms & Possible Tornadoes Overnight in Western KY

It's always fun to go to bed at night knowing that you could be jolted awake to take shelter. Today, the National Weather Service posted the following about possible severe thunderstorms in our area this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the slight risk of severe thunderstorms to include the MO Bootheel area through most of west KY. Timing will still be late tonight. Make sure you have a way to receive warnings that will wake you up!

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A line of thunderstorms will develop in advance of an approaching cold front tonight. Some storms may become severe, with damaging winds and possibly a tornado the main severe storm hazards. A slight risk of severe storms runs along and south of a Poplar
Bluff, Missouri, to Cape Girardeau, to Evansville, Indiana line. A marginal risk exists elsewhere. Heavy rain could also cause localized flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

There is a chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, mainly over southeast Missouri and western Kentucky. Lightning and locally heavy rainfall will be the primary hazards.
