Owensboro Community and Technical College is teaming up with Yager Marine and Yager Materials for a career fair this week.  The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 10th and will feature two identical 2-hour informational sessions.

Those sessions (scheduled for 9:30am and 3pm) are open to the public, but you are asked to make a reservation to reserve your spot.  To do that, please contact Antoine Smith-Rouse at 606-278-0209 or via email at Antoine.SmithRouse@kctcs.edu.

OCTC's Workforce Solutions division understands that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a pretty significant increase in dislocated workers in our area and is committed to working with community partners, like Yager, to put students and area residents into jobs.  This week's job fair aims to do just that in an efficient and effective manner.

Yager, for instance, approached the Workforce Solutions division in search of skilled laborers and welders.  Yager representatives will be on hand at the career fair to discuss current employment opportunities with their companies and the "fast-track training partnership" with OCTC.  That partnership involves a 16-week Multi-Craft Technician course which trains students for entry level manufacturing positions by offering hands-on skills instruction in welding, forklift operations and industrial safety.

In addition to representatives from the program, OCTC will also have financial aid officers on site and the Kentucky Career Center will have representatives on hand as well for consultation.

COVID safety protocols will be in place for the event, which will be held at OCTC's Downtown Campus at 1501 Frederica Street in Owensboro.  Masks are required. Social distancing will be implemented and interested students and other job seekers from the community will be required to complete a healthy check-in prior to their selection informational session.
