OPD No Shave Campaign Will Run Through February
It's that time of year when the weather cools off and men start growing out their facial hair for a little extra insulation. The Owensboro Police Department men will be growing beards for their fifth annual fundraiser benefitting the community.
The officers are allowed to grow beards up to one inch in length and keep them now through next February.
OPD's no shave benefits two causes, their seventh annual Operation Santa which is a food donation program aimed at helping those in need in our community during the holidays. No shave also benefits Camp K.O.P.S. a crime prevention program aimed at allowing kids (K) to experience fun camping activities while obtaining (O) positive (P) structure (S) from OPD officers.
The OPD expects to raise more than $7,000. If you want to donate, you can drop by the department on West 9th Street or you can call (270) 687-8888.
