The Owensboro Police Department's annual "Shop With A Cop" event is next Tuesday! Every year, officers in the OPD take local children shopping for Christmas. Here's what OPD has to say about their awesome event:

The holidays are in full swing and Christmas is rapidly approaching! Knowing that there are many children in Owensboro looking forward to Santa’s arrival, the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #16 has scheduled its annual Shop With A Cop event for Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
The members of local FOP lodge #16 have been working hard to make this Christmas season special for approximately 80 children from the Owensboro/Daviess County area. These children are selected from referrals provided by members of law enforcement, state agencies, area schools, and local shelters.
The event starts at 5:30 PM at Hall Street Baptist Church located at 1102 Hall Street where pizza will be served. This gives the families a chance to meet some of the volunteers who work hard to make the event a success. At approximately 6:30 PM, the busses will be escorted by police cruisers to Walmart at 5031 Frederica Street. Once there, families will be paired up with a law enforcement official to begin shopping and making wonderful memories.
