It was an exciting Friday afternoon when the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces beat Scott County 62-51 to advance to the KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen for the first time ever.

It was a huge upset over the 34-1 (now 34-2) Cardinals, considered favorites over the Lady Aces coming into the game.

The girls had plenty of time to celebrate (which is to say, if I'm thinking like a coach, not MUCH time) after the win.

But now they get ready for something no other Lady Aces team has ever done...play in a state semi-final game.

I look forward to seeing if Hannah McKay can match her outstanding double-double performance from Friday when the Aces take on Ryle.

It'll be another tough test for the Lady Aces as the 4th-seeded Lady Raiders come into this semi-final match at 31-5.

The game begins at 5:30PM. GO ACES!
