Our friend Matt Ramsey, AKA The Cooker of Deliciousness, is the driving force behind a VERY TASTY fundraiser happening at Green River Distillery in Owensboro, KY. He knows good food, good bourbon, and is working to rally community support for an important cause.

The Foster Shop is the newest evolution of the non-profit organization, Borrowed Hearts. Their mission is to support foster kiddos and families in various ways, but first they do everything they can to meet immediate needs. Sometimes a child will arrive in their foster home with only the clothes they are wearing. Or with their belongings in a garbage bag.

We got to sit down with some of the volunteers last year for lunch, and I remember them telling us that they exist to fill in the gaps. To make the scary transition just a little easier and less stressful for everyone involved. You can get involved by donating items such as clothing, hygiene products, toys, books, and gear for newborns through teens.

Another way to support (and have a good ol' delicious time too) is by buying a ticket to Matt's Fired Up for The Foster Shop event. September 12th, cooking teams will compete for the win, and you get to reap the benefits as you sample what they make along with dinner, cocktails, raffles, and a live auction.

Matt told us they have some amazing items you can bid on.  Primo Ceramic grills, RecTeq smokers, a Heavenly Heat infrared sauna, Montana Knife Co. knives, and more. You can also get first dibs on special bottles of Green River bourbon from a barrel hand-picked by world-renowned bourbon writer Fred Minnick.

All proceeds from this night of fun will benefit The Foster Shop and its mission, which is near and dear to so many, including Matt. His brother and sister-in-law fostered for a year before adopting his two nephews. By using his platform to help other foster families, he sets the example for us all to be the village it takes to care for a child.

So, September 12th, let's get Fired Up! For the Foster Shop. Click here to buy tickets or a table, or if you want to sign up to sponsor, cook, or donate an auction item, you can contact Matt Ramsey via the Facebook event page.
