Young Owensboro Entrepreneurs Raise Big Money for Kentucky Animal Rescue
Their business may not have the catchiest name, but Finley & Cameron's Bracelet Thing is most definitely a hit. Finley's mom, Tamarra Miller (PorchFest co-founder and co-owner of Brasher's Lil' Nashville in downtown Owensboro) says she tried her hardest to get the two girls to name their business Best Friend Bracelets, but "they're weren't having it."
So, 9-year-old Finley Miller and 8-year-old Cameron Quattrocchi (both of whom attend Sutton Elementary) set up their Finley & Cameron's Bracelet Thing booth at PorchFest in Owensboro on Saturday, June 10th. That was Cameron's idea, by the way. The two had spent a year making a huge inventory of bracelets and they wanted to sell them. Of course, Tamarra said they could, BUT only if they agreed to give 20% of their profits to a local charity of their choice.

See, the girls started making bracelets for fun originally. Their brothers play on the same travel soccer team. During a soccer trip to St. Louis, the girls started selling their bracelets and they were an immediate and big hit with the soccer community. They've expanded their customer base since. At PorchFest, they expanded it exponentially.
Tamarra says the girls "worked for months to make sure they had enough bracelets to sell."
And, they sold them. ALL of them. They started the day with 170 bracelets and completely sold out. That gave them the opportunity to raise a significant amount of money for SPARKY- Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky. Finley and Cameron are huge animal lovers and they quickly chose that charity to benefit from their entrepreneurship. The girls raised an astounding $250!
But here's where the story gets even better. Two local business people were so impressed with Finley and Cameron's success that they decided to match that $250. Shane Shepard with Dinger Bats and Robyn Clark, a local Edward Jones Financial Advisor, are donating $250 each as well. That raises Finley and Cameron's SPARKY donation to a whopping $750!
I guess you could say that Finley & Cameron's Bracelet Thing did a thing!
