Owensboro High School Rose Curtain Players Celebrating 100 Years With Reunion & Show
Once a Rose Curtain Player, always a Rose Curtain Player. If you ever made magic happen in one of the Owensboro High School theatres, you are invited to celebrate 100 years of the oldest theatre troupe in Kentucky.
Over 421 shows have been produced by high school thespians over the past century. That's a lot of theatre! A lot of actors, props, sets, crew members, musicians, and best of all, lots of memories.
I can't imagine what my life would be like without my four years in the Rose Curtain Players. Many of you can relate, I'm sure, and agree that lessons learned go beyond the red drapes. The self confidence, the sense of humor, the ability to solve problems by the seat of your pants...just a few of the countless ways theatre can teach students how to be better humans while creating performance art.
Rose Curtain 100th Anniversary Reception & Show
Its way past time to get the gang back together again. So director Carolyn Greer has been planning a great weekend of theatre and reminiscing. Starting with a blast from the past in the form of a reception and show Friday, August 2nd at Owensboro High School. Free and open to the public.
At 6PM, the doors open for a tour of the new and improved theatre department at OHS. If you haven't seen the facility since it was updated, prepare to be blown away and VERY jealous! You'll also get enjoy the display of memorabilia including old programs, costumes, props, and more.
Following the tour at 7PM, over 50 Rose Curtain Players past and present will perform The Literature of Our Lives:100 Years in the Making. Scenes and readings from books and stories you most likely read while you were in high school. Here is a throwback picture of one of the first times this show was performed.
