Owensboro’s Ultimate Back-to-School Bash – 500 Free Backpacks + School Supplies

Local community leader, Travis Owsley created Beverly's Hearty Slice in 2020 in honor of his mother who passed away in 2018. She left a legacy of feeding hungry folks and generosity to those in need.

Travis and his team keep that legacy alive with events throughout the year around town. They feed folks, give away gift cards, utility vouchers, bikes, you name it. But more than that, they show the people of Owensboro how much they care. They share kindness without judgement for whatever situation someone may be in.

Along with their regular feeding sites, they host special events for holidays and happenings. One of which is just a couple of weeks away to get the kiddos ready for Back to School. This is going to be huge!

July 19th at 5 PM Kendall Perkins Park in downtown Owensboro will be full of smiles, slices of Little Caesar's and more.  The Back to School Bash sponsored by Beverly's Hearty Slice is giving away 500 backpacks with school supplies. They'll also have three 32" TVs to give away, Walmart gift cards, and tons of fun for the kiddos.

Inflatables, DJ Zach Quarles playing music, Mr. UK Gavin Wimsatt and Mr. Cincinnati Dartanyan Tinsley will be there to throw footballs and kick off the first day of the 51st Annual Owensboro Dust Bowl. 

Thanks to sponsors, Owensboro Community & Technical College, River Valley Behavioral Health, Owensboro Health who will be set up for the event with information about cancer screening and prevention.
