Owensboro Police Investigating Kidnapping and Auto Theft

Owensboro police are investigating an auto theft that took place at 3511 Frederica Street, just a couple of doors down from the WBKR studios.

On Tuesday afternoon, the suspect jumped into a vehicle and drove off with a 5-year-old child still in the vehicle.

The suspect released the child no more than a couple of blocks or so away from where the vehicle had been taken and the child was unharmed.

The police are looking for a maroon 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with Kentucky plates: 201RVK.

While detectives have identified a person of interest, said person of interest has not been located and the investigation is ongoing.
