
Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association Awards First Annual Scholarships
The Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association recently awarded its first annual scholarship awards, recognizing two local students for their achievements and plans. It’s the first year for the program, and the response from students across the area was stronger than expected. Fourteen students applied, and the Association says they are excited to keep building on this effort in the years ahead!
First Year of Scholarships Draws Strong Interest
This was the first time the Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association offered scholarships, and it immediately drew attention from students throughout the community. With 14 applications submitted, the program got off to a solid start and showed just how many local students are working hard toward college and future careers.
Anna Katherine Wathen Earns First Place Award
Anna Katherine Wathen of Owensboro Catholic High School received the $1,500 first place scholarship. She stood out for her academic work, leadership, and goals after graduation. She will attend the University of Kentucky this fall to begin the next step in her education.
Aubrey Nies Named Second Place Recipient
Aubrey Nies of Daviess County High School was awarded the $1,000 second place scholarship. She also plans to attend the University of Kentucky in the fall. Her application reflected a strong dedication to her studies and a clear focus on her future.

REALTORS® Focus on Supporting Local Students
Association leaders say the scholarship program is one way REALTORS® can give back to the community and support students as they continue their education. They emphasized that investing in young people helps strengthen the communities they serve.
“The Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association is committed to investing in the future of our communities,” said Tyler Shookman, President of the Association. Scholarships are another way we give back and support local students as they move forward. We are incredibly proud of Anna Katherine and Aubrey and excited to see what they accomplish.”
Looking Ahead
With a successful first year behind them, the Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association plans to continue the scholarship program and hopes to grow it in the coming years.
