Owensboro Shop With A Cop A Complete & Amazing Success [VIDEO]

Owensboro is so very blessed with the most amazing police officers around.  Last night the FOP Annual Shop with a Cop took place and to say it was incredible would be an understatement!

The event started at 5:30 p.m. at Life Community Church with pizza, cookies, and drinks.  At 6:30 everyone loaded buses donated by the schools and headed to Walmart with a police escort, lights, and sirens!

Over 90 kids were able to participate in the annual event this year.  Loren Yonts, of the Owensboro Police Department, stated this was 25 more children than last year.  Kids were given an allowance of $150 to spend $75 of which went to clothing and the rest to toys or bikes.

Children are referred to the FOP Shop with a Cop program through local shelters and the family resource centers in the schools.

The community of Owensboro is very involved in this night.  Several local stores donated over 80 pizzas, Coca Cola & Pepsi donated drinks so that all the money raised went straight to the kids.

The FOP and Owensboro Police Department want to send a huge THANK YOU to all who helped to make this happen.  Especially Walmart that graciously opens their store for the event each year.

I am so honored to live in such a supportive and caring community.  As a kid who grew up with little this blesses me so deeply.  FOP Lodge #16, Owensboro Police Department, family resources, local businesses, and whoever else helped thank you for helping make special memories for these precious kids.
