The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra Invites You to the 2022 Concert on the Lawn
An end-of-summer tradition is coming back to Owensboro this week. The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and US Bank are teaming up for the 2022 Concert on the Lawn at Kentucky Wesleyan College. This year's event is going offer something for everyone in the family. The theme is Adventure Under the Stars and will feature some of Disney's most beloved music.
The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra is directed by Maestro Troy Quinn and Concert on the Lawn offers fans the opportunity to pack a picnic, bring chairs or a blanket to the front lawn of KWC and enjoy a great night of music.
This year, OSO will welcome guest vocalist Lauren Jelencovich, who has appeared in operatic and musical theatre roles around the country and abroad. She's currently on a World Tour with Yanni as a featured vocalist. In Owensboro Saturday evening, Lauren will be performing songs from The Little Mermaid and Enchanted.
Here's a great video that shows off Lauren's voice. In it, she happens to be singing one of my all-time favorite songs- "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice. This is sensational.
While tables for Concert on the Lawn are officially sold out, there is plenty of room on the KWC lawn. The concert will begin at 7pm, Saturday, August 27th, but there will be pre-show family activities getting underway at 5:30. There will also be food trucks on site!
Fun fact! Lots of folks who attend Concert on the Lawn tend to decorate their tables (and sometimes themselves) in keeping with the theme of the show. OSO Executive Director Gwyn Payne says, "Think pirates, princesses and tall tales!" Table hosts will be vying for two complimentary tickets to Owensboro Symphony Orchestra's Home for the Holidays concert, which is set for December 10th.
