Some Weirdo is Spreading Peanut Butter on Doorknobs in Kentucky
The other night, my husband leaned over and said, "Have you heard about this yet?" and showed me a video of a latex-gloved hand ever-so-lightly rubbing peanut butter on someone's doorknob. Something about it gave me the ICK.
Somerset Peanut Butter Smearer
"This guy just goes around doing this in different places and filming it," Michael told me. Truthfully, we don't know if it's a guy or not, but the mystery person goes by @somersetpbsmearer on TikTok. Here is one of the videos:

Peanut Allergy Danger
While this may seem like a funny prank, as folks are pointing out in the comments, it isn't funny AT ALL if you deal with a life-threatening allergy. My son had a peanut allergy (that he has luckily grown out of), but I remember being SO anxious that he would accidentally have a reaction somewhere.
Peanut Butter Pranks Are Not Funny
We had Epi-pens stashed all over the place. Some people are so sensitive that they can't even be in the same room as peanuts! That's why so many schools have guidelines about lunch nowadays. If a poor unsuspecting person with an allergy comes across a PB-covered door, they would have to leave and find someone to help them clean it up. Or worse, they could need medical assistance.

Door Knob Pranks
I don't think this prankster has really thought through the dangers of their smearing product of choice. I mean, they could kill someone. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt because they could have a change of heart. Instead, they could use marshmallow fluff or Crisco. Oh goodness, honey would be a HORRIBLE mess, but would at least be safer. Oooh! Easy Cheese! or cake icing! OK, maybe don't get any ideas here...
Peanut Butter Smearing Spree
Since that video, they have hit more homes in Somerset and even went on a peanut buttering spree at the Pulaski County Fair. Look:

A couple of commenters are claiming to recognize this person's outfit. But to my knowledge, they have not been officially identified. It did, however, make the nightly news on WKYT where more people shared their concerns:
From Somerset to Nancy
Most recently, other than bragging about their news coverage, the prankster shared a video with the caption, "Nancy is not safe." Nancy being a very small town right outside of Somerset. In the clip, they once again walk up and very...delicately (weird vibes, amiright?) smear peanut butter on the door handle of a house.
The Peanut Butter Prankster
Folks in the area shared their grievances in the community Facebook group, but the post has since been removed. To my knowledge, the authorities are aware, but I don't know if they are making moves to identify the now dubbed "Peanut Butter Prankster." If this ain't some immature teenage boy behavior, I don't know what is...I mean, who else would be so bored that they resort to rubbing nut butter on people's houses?
I'm not going to claim they have malicious intent, but they are clearly ignoring the risks associated with what they are doing. Even when it has been pointed out many, many times. The response? "I won't back down." So, while I don't wish to give this jokester more attention with this article, I think it's important to let people know, so they can be aware. Stay safe, y'all!
Somerset Fun Facts
Also, this is not even close to being the weirdest or coolest thing about Somerset. Remember last year when the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee flew through the air and through the downtown fountain? Here is an awesome story about their stop on the Kentucky Wildland's Haunted Trail.
