Police Find Stolen Vehicle From Owensboro In Ohio River
According to Eyewitness News, Tell City Central Dispatch received a call telling them that a vehicle was in the river at the Troy Boat Ramp on Monday. This is what we know-->
Perry County EMS and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene. They were advised the driver of the vehicle was seen fleeing on foot. A witness told law enforcement the vehicle seemed to be a large box truck, but it was completely submerged by the time authorities arrived.
Indiana Conservation Officers and Perry County Rescue personnel were called to the scene to recover the vehicle, but the recovery operation was stopped due to high water and dangerous currents.
A person matching the driver’s description was located near the barge area west of the Troy boat ramp. The man was identified as Daniel L. Young of Boonville, Indiana and was detained for further questioning.
Authorities determined a vehicle matching the submerged box truck was stolen earlier Monday from Owensboro. Young was incarcerated on several charges, including Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Mischief. His bond was set at $3,305.
The vehicle will be removed from the Ohio River once it is safe to do so.
