While, we can't really go back in time and re-live the exact moments of joy we felt at our elementary school Scholastic Book Fair, there are some Owensboro folks who are planning another Adult Book Fair for anyone who wants a good ole dose of nostalgia or to find something new and fun to read. Even if you just want to go and hang with friends, it's gonna be a great time.

My gal pals and I are members of the Fabulous Ladies Reading Club. We have met once a month to chat books and life for ten years now. Of course, we had to check out the first Adult Book Fair last month. It was a blast! Folks lined up down the block to stop in, browse the reading materials, shop, and socialize.

Sunday October 27th from 12PM to 6PM, Brew Bridge at 800 W. 2nd Street in downtown Owensboro is gonna be filled with grown-up book lovers for the second time and a Halloween themed Fair.

It wouldn't be a book fair without awesome books and fun trinkets to shop. We have Displaced Pages, Owensboro's newest book shop to thank for planning this event and proprietor Virginia Hardesty invited other vendors from the area and even local authors to join in the fun.

The Moneytree offered up records and books, Your Brothers Bookstore from Evansville had all kinds of different genres from classics to new favorites. The Daviess County Public Library and Prism Arts Alliance will return to show support.  The Brew Bridge patio will once again be full to the brim with bibliophiles.

Virginia is also the administrator of Owensboro's Silent Book Club. They meet regularly and often at Brew Bridge, so they were the perfect partners for the Adult Book Fair. She told me her inspiration for this event came from conversations with the reading community.   "We would talk about the scholastic book fair and how we need one, but ya know, with cocktails and wine now. And we would laugh and kinda move on, but I thought...well, why don't we do that?"

The Adult Book Fair Spooky Edition Halloween theme means trick-or-treating, spooky cocktails, a costume contest, door prizes, brews, and more! Its free to attend and all ages are welcome.
