Why a Railbike Ride Through Kentucky Is on My Spring Bucket List
So far this winter, we've had a warm week, a cold week, a warm week, a cold few days, and a warm few days. Now, it's cold again. I can't seem to hang onto my spring fever. But no matter. Whether it's dormant or not, I have my eye on March and the first day of spring.
I also have my eye on what possibilities await in terms of fun spring getaways. I love being outside, and when I get an unseasonably warm break in the winter, I seize opportunities. However, some opportunities simply cannot be seized until springtime.
Kentucky Railbike Excursions
Case in point...the Rail Explorers Bluegrass Division. They offer railbike tours, and, no, I wouldn't want to plan a winter trip around it because, for one, I can't. And two, they won't reopen until the Spring. (Also, duh, it's too cold.)
But I like having something to look forward to, and a railbike excursion through Kentucky's breathtaking horse country is most certainly that.
You'll love the stops above the Kentucky River, the views of Young's High Bridge, and the Wild Turkey Distillery.
Rail Explorers
If you're wondering about the phrase "Bluegrass Division" like I was, I will explain. Rail Explorers USA operates railbike attractions all over the country. I can only imagine what a pedal excursion through the Catskill Mountains in New York would be like. There are also railbike opportunities in California, West Virginia, Iowa, and Rhode Island.
What do you think? I mean, if you have a bike and enjoy riding it (like me), trade it in for a railbike trip when the weather warms up. And since these bikes are motorized, even better.
