Yours truly will be there live on the scene as we celebrate the beginning of summer and sign kiddos and teens up for the program. Last year was such a blast with balloon animals, games and bubbles in the courtyard, a lemonade truck, and free gifts for each participant  while supplies last. Folks also get to take a look at all of the awesome prizes up for grabs.

When you sign up for the summer reading program, you earn an entry for those prizes for each hour you read. The drawing for the prizes will be at the end of the program July 31st, but there will also be weekly drawing in each age group, preschool, children, teen, and adult.

One of the goals of the summer reading program is to help keep students from suffering the "summer slide" where knowledge gained over the school year can be forgotten if that brain power isn't used until classes start again in the fall. Reading is a fun way to do that and can even bump your kiddo up a reading level.

The library is also planning a series of free and awesome events on Wednesdays this summer for families to spend some quality time together. A carnival themed inflatable party and Dinosaur Encounter with Feller Express from Evansville. Of course, toddler story time and other fun programs will continue as usual and as always no cost to participate. Check out the DCPL website for more information.
