Yes, it happened, and I still can't believe it.  I'm speechless, stunned, dumbfounded, etc.  The team no one thought would make the postseason silenced their naysayers by playing their hearts out and winning their 11th World Series over the tenacious Texas Rangers. Watch out Moon, because the St. Louis Cardinals are now second to the New York Yankees (27)  in World Series titles.  And it was the first Game 7 played since 2002 when the Anaheim Angels (remember the "Rally Monkey"?) defeated the San Francisco Giants.  Cardinal mania picked up its own rally animal, the Rally Squirrel, and he has his own Twitter account.

I thought about writing about that incredible Game 6, wow!  However, I had to wait and see if the Cardinals could hold it together and take the championship.  My faith was reassured after Allen Craig caught Rangers' David Murphy's deep to left fly ball for the final out.  St. Louis native David Freese easily captured the MVP, and a Corvette.  Oh and he was also the National League Series MVP; simply an unbelievable performance.  Amidst all the celebration, one big question remains...

After this incredible season, will Albert Pujols stay with the Cardinals?  Negotiations for a contract extension were suspened in the spring with no deal, so presumably, Pujols might be looking for other offers in the off-season.  One team that was mentioned the most?  The Chicago Cubs, who are now under new general management as Theo Epstein, who fled the Boston Red Sox after their breakdown of a season, is now in charge.  I doubt that will make a difference to Pujols, but you never know.

All I know is, I'll be extremely happy and I know what I want to ask Santa for...plenty of "St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series Champions" gear!
