They say that if you want to be a good writer, write what you know. But I also believe the "what you know" philosophy works in entrepreneurship, as well. Take Tell City, Indiana's Clint Gayer and his son Brian. Their beloved hobby of RC (remote control) racing has led them to build their own race tracks on their Perry County property, and now, thanks to Brian, they're branching out.

RC (Remote Control) Racing

If you're unfamiliar with the pastime, I could certainly explain it to you, but I think a visual example is a lot more fun.

Just as if these vehicles were life-sized and required human drivers, these competition-level remote control miniatures compete in distinct classes and in a structured race format, complete with time trials, practice, and main events.

G4 RC Park

That's what you can expect at the all-new G4 RC Park, the brainchild of 14-year-old Brian Gayer, who was inspired to build an indoor RC park in Tell City after a trip to Cincinnati with his mom, during which he competed at a local Hobbytown.

Clint told me that Brian came to him with the idea, one that was 100% backed up by Brian's mother and Clint's wife, Samantha. With the whole family on board, the G4 RC Park, which is located in Tell City's old Swiss Plywood building alongside Bliss Artisan Ice Cream, sprang to life. Its soft opening is Friday, July 31st, with the grand opening set for August 14th.

Inside G4 RC Park

G4 RC Park will feature seven indoor tracks and three outdoor tracks. There are time trials and qualifying, as I mentioned earlier. And if guests can't bring their own remote control vehicles, they can rent one from G4 RC Park. Clint also tells me they can go portable, in that G4 RC Park can set up a track for parties.

Whether you're already into RC racing or just curious to try it, G4 RC Park looks poised to become one of the area's most unique family attractions.
