It's ROMP season, and you know what that means! Great music, great people, and most importantly, (in my mind, at least) great food. I spent my Thursday trying out many of the different food trucks and scoping out the different vendors. Here are my thoughts on what I found.

Southern Sliders

My first stop of the day was at Southern Sliders. The staff were nice and friendly. They had a selection of different sliders to choose from.

Greasy Mother Cluckers

My next stop was Greasy Mother Cluckers and boy did I enjoy myself here. They have a wide variety of food, from chicken to waffles to mac n cheese. Bob hooked me up with some loaded mac n cheese, which had bacon, pulled chicken, and bbq sauce on it. Yes, It was as good as it sounds. I had a fun time talking to the guys here, and learned that this was their first time at ROMP. I hope they become regular food vendors!

Lil Cheezers

Lil Cheezers is a cheese sandwich oriented food truck. I had arrived right when they opened up, so my food was hot and fresh. I tried out the cheddar and bacon cheese sandwich.

The bread was nice and crispy, the cheese was melted perfectly and the bacon added a great smoky flavor. Isaac, our other intern, said he loved it as well.

The Spot

The Spot is a food truck that serves drinks like coffee, tea, and lemonade. I have to say that this is definitely the coolest looking food truck I've seen. They're working out of a repurposed bus, with paint garnishes and custom signs (my favorite being the "Weirdos welcome" sign). Definitely a cool, relaxed vibe here.

I had the lemonade and raspberry tea. I liked how the flavors of each weren't overpowering and that they weren't over-sugary.

Fresh By Gene's

Fresh By Gene's stands out by being one of the only food trucks to be serving primarily healthy and vegan/vegetarian friendly food. The staff were incredibly friendly and approachable. I had Isaac help me out with this one, and we tried the watermelon mint salad. Isaac said it was very refreshing and tasty, and I have to agree. The refreshing coolness hits you like a truck, and I mean that in a good way. It was a nice change of pace after eating a lot of less healthier food.

Vendors

There was a wide variety of vendors that I visited, but I mostly visited the art booths. I was impressed at the quality of art.

They were doing some live painting and showcasing their art at this booth, and I had a great time talking with them.

This booth was showcasing tons of handmade clothing, bags, paintings and sculptures.

I had a great first time at ROMP getting to know all of the different food vendors and try their food, and meeting artist vendors. I can't wait to come back tomorrow and try everything I didn't get to today!
