My Favorite Sara Evans Memory

Probably one of my biggest memories of Sara didn't quite go the way that it was planned, but sometimes those are the best of all. In January 2014 our St. Jude Denim and Diamonds event happened on the same night that Sara was set to play at the Owensboro Convention Center. If my memory serves me correctly, she was actually opening up the new venue that evening.

Because Sara is a big supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Chad reached out to see if she come by to sing a couple of songs before her concert was set to take place. It was raining that night so they asked if someone from WBKR could pick her up at the Convention Center, and then drop her off when done. Barb was assigned that task quite willingly.

Everything went well at the St. Jude event and I headed back to the Convention Center with their special guest. It was still raining pretty hard as I drove her to the back entrance of the Convention Center, and then it got weird. We had a friendly banter through the entire time spent together, but this was unexpected. She proceeds to get out and her manager turns to me and says, "thank you so much, we'll be right back here after her show is over for you to take her to her bus". I responded okay but knew that Chad was on stage and unavailable. I had a small part at Denim and Diamonds with no way to let him know what was going on.

Needless to say, I sat in the Owensboro Convention Center parking lot listening to the rain and wondering how all of this happened! She was super gracious when I picked her up and took her to her tour bus. I got to Denim and Diamonds just as the lights were turned off and Chad was getting ready to leave. I had quite the adventure to share with him. And, a good laugh too!

Sara Evans Christmas Tour Comes to Evansville

Well, are you a big fan of Sara Evans? She has such a pure and powerful voice. In her storied career, she has scored multiple music awards, tapped into acting, appeared on television, and of course, toured the country. Truly, is there anything that Sara can't do!

It's exciting that she'll be coming to town to celebrate the holiday season on Friday, December 3rd, 2021. In 2014 she put out her very own Christmas album with many traditional Christmas classics. She'll be singing most of those holiday favorites, and hopefully, some of her own big hits when she comes to the Old National Events Plaza Aiken Theatre in Downtown Evansville. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 20th, 2021 at 10 AM.
