This has been a long time coming, but work on Owensboro-Daviess County's brand new Senior Community Center is currently underway.

WHERE IS OWENSBORO'S NEW SENIOR COMMUNITY CENTER?

The new facility is located at the corner of Carter Road and West Second Street and is expected to open in September of this year. The project is the result of years of hard work, fundraising, and demonstrating the need for a brand new, state-of-the-art center in the county.

Now, the Senior Community Center is offering local residents to be part of the construction and story of the new facility. They just launched a brick fundraiser. Here's how it works!

THE LEGACY WALK

The new Senior Community Center will feature a Legacy Walk. That walk will be comprised of bricks that honor local residents. SCC Executive Director David Tucker says, "We invite everyone to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity to celebrate families, individuals, businesses, organizations, churches, clubs, schools, teams, organizations and groups of all kinds." The brick initiative gives locals the "perfect opportunity to honor parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, mentors" and others. In fact, organizers of the fundraiser suggest purchasing bricks as Mother's, Father's, Grandparents' Day gifts.
