When a local artist handed a finished portrait of Ole 60 to Dustin “Catfish” Fuqua, she never expected it to end up traveling the country. Now, that painting has a permanent home on the band’s tour bus. Meet Shelby Satterfield and learn how you can get your hands on some of her incredible artwork.

As someone who spent years in honors arts programs and minored in art in college, Shelby’s dedication really hits home for me. Art has a funny way of sticking with you, even when life takes you in a different direction. And while I’m definitely not anywhere near as talented as Shelby, that love for creating never really goes away!

Shelby Satterfield Art Intro

Shelby Satterfield is a mixed-media artist who loves painting animals and moments from her travels. Her work is very detailed and full of personality, and you can tell how much care she puts into each piece. Shelby is currently open for commissions, and you can check out (or purchase) her work HERE.

Painting Ole 60

Shelby’s portrait of Ole 60 wasn’t something she rushed through or put on a strict timeline. When I asked how long it took, she said she didn’t really keep track, but figured it was probably around twenty hours altogether. The final piece is incredibly detailed and really captures the band for who they are.

She later gave the painting to Dustin “Catfish” Fuqua, and instead of it being tucked away somewhere, it’s now on the road with the band. The portrait has a spot on Ole 60’s tour bus and gets to travel right along with them.

From Local Band to Life on the Road

Ole 60 didn’t stay local for long. What started as a hometown favorite quickly turned into a band people all over the country are paying attention to, thanks to their gritty mix of country, rock, and Appalachian influence.

They’re heading out on a full U.S. tour in 2026, and you can find all the tour dates online. If you caught their New Year’s Eve show right here in Owensboro, you already know why people keep coming back for more! They're so good.

The 6th Annual Red, White, and Boots is coming back to Historic League Stadium in Huntingburg, IN, on August 29th, with Ole 60 headlining. Tickets are on sale now!

Looking Ahead

For Shelby, art isn’t something she’s leaving behind anytime soon. She’s a biology major at the University of Evansville with minors in environmental science and art, and she’s hoping to work with exotic animals someday, especially primates. She also wants to paint every animal she ends up working with, which feels on brand for her.

From painting in her own space to having her work ride along on a national tour bus, Shelby Satterfield’s art has already gone some pretty cool places. It’s a good reminder that when you stick with what you love, you never really know where it might take you.

Maybe it's time to dust off my pencils and paint brushes!
