Watch Owensboro Native Steve Bridgmon on the Price is Right
It takes a lot to make me truly jealous of someone, but this is one of those instances. Is there anyone who grew up in the 1970s or 80s who didn't watch The Price is Right? Keep scrolling to listen to us reminisce about how sick days weren't all that bad as a kid. Because we got to stay home and eat soup and watch that iconic show.
We learned the importance of spaying and neutering our pets at a very young age thanks to Bob Barker. We also all dreamed of sitting in that studio audience and hearing our name called to "COME ON DOWWWWWN."
Steve Bridgmon, a longtime friend of ours, recently shared this on Facebook:
Ummm...excuse me? Steve? Samuel? What? We're gonna need for you to call us and tell us all about it! Which he did this morning on the show.

When Steve, AKA Samuel, was in California this past summer, he decided to sign up to play. Using his "government name," meaning the name on his driver's license, he crossed his fingers that his lifetime dream would come true. I have known him almost my whole life and had no idea that was actually his name. lol!
Sure enough, after outbidding his fellow contestant by one dollar, he went up to play the game, Snapshot. Here are some fun facts he told us about The Price is Right experience.
1. You don't know you're gonna get called down when it happens. It really is a surprise
2. In the studio audience, they don't announce the name of the next contestant so everyone can hear. They hold up a white posterboard with the name written on it. I guess what we hear when we watch is a voiceover from the booth, I suppose?
3. Producers tell potential contestants, "The meaner you can be, the better." Oh, the drama! It definitely makes the game more interesting!
4. The big wheel is the same wheel that has been used in all episodes of The Price is Right. "The back of it looks like a dilapidated old building," Steve said. Even though it is old and possibly held together with duct tape, it is extremely heavy.
Here is the interview if you want to give it a listen. I love what he says at the end. Follow your dreams, y'all!
And a friend of Steve's shared this great clip:
You can catch the entire episode (1/13/2026) on Paramount+ as well. Congratulations, Steve! We're only a little bit jealous!
