UPDATE (DEC 17, 2020) I spoke to Samantha, who found the kitty back in October. She said that no one came forward for the kitty they now call Kit. Samantha and her son are happily still caring for him. Her contact information is below if you have any information on Kit's original family.

ORIGINAL STORY: Goodwill Store employees were left stunned this week when a cat was found in between the cushions of a donated sofa. Unbeknownst to the former owners, the family cat was also donated by accident. For several days the kitty hid without detection and now we're trying to find the family.

UPDATE: Owners have not claimed this sweet boy as of 10/20/2020. He is still being kept safe, in a loving home, in the meantime. A family stepped forward over the weekend, but it was a false alarm. It wasn't their missing kitty. More updates will follow with what will hopefully be some good news.

Can you imagine moving a sofa at Goodwill and hearing a meow? Well, that's exactly what happened at the Henderson Goodwill in Kentucky this week. What a surprise that must have been for the employees.

The couch has sold so I don't have a photo, but its been described as a brown leather sofa with three cushions. It was dropped off at Goodwill over the weekend. Employees discovered the beautiful kitty, who was stuck in the couch, on October 13th, 2020. He is being held safe and sound until the owner can be found.

There have been many questions on social media, since this posted was shared, asking how this could have happened.

1. How come Goodwill doesn't have the name of the former owner?

Families drop stuff off at the back of Goodwill all of the time. Many don't care about a tax slip and just drive off. So, they would have no idea who the couch belonged to.

2. Is it possible that the cat climbed into the couch after it was dropped off?

Quite possibly and that's why the person who is caring for the cat has contacted the shelter and posted him on the local "missing pets" sites.

3. Is it possible that the owners didn't want the couch AND the cat anymore?

I've actually seen this posted quite a few times. I truly hope not, but at least he's being cared for and loved on right now.

Many cats go missing every day, but not many like this. Someone has to be missing this baby boy! Let's try to bring him home. A photo of you with the cat, the cat in your home, or the couch, will need to be shown for owner verification.
