Talented Kentucky Baker Fulfills Life-Long Dream of Owning Her Own Store
I remember where I was the first time I met Victoria Hess. I was doing a remote broadcast at Come-hither, a women's intimate clothing store here that's owned by my friends Rhonda and Jenny. For that special event, Victoria had a small display set up inside their Owensboro store. It was close to Christmas time, so she had some holiday goodies and, the things that really caught my eye, hot chocolate bombs. She hooked me up with a sampler and I was instantly hooked. Everything she made was delicious.
In fact, Victoria is used to serving up that caliber of sweetness for her customers, family and friends. She started baking when she was three-years-old. It's a craft that she learned to love from her mother and, today, her own kids are pretty obsessed with how good their mom is at it. Victoria and her husband Mike have three kids- Eli (who's 15-months-old), Gabby (who will be 5 in two weeks) and Kai (who is 8-and-a-half). In fact, Victoria says Kai is his mom's biggest fan.
After this Saturday, Kai may have to arm-wrestle the citizens of Owensboro for that title. After a lifetime of baking, Victoria's going to treat herself to something that she's been dreaming about and craving. Victoria's life-long dream of opening and owning her own store is finally coming true!
The grand opening for Sweet Temptations by Victoria is set for this Saturday, January 14th. The store is located at 231 Williamsburg Square here in town.
Victoria actually started Sweet Temptations by Victoria in 2020- during the pandemic. She had spent years working in healthcare (including a position at Owensboro Health), but the kitchen was calling. She loves to bake and wanted to share that passion and her creativity with others. So, she created Sweet Temptations by Victoria.
Two years later, she has officially departed her healthcare career and is inside her new store prepping for the big grand opening celebration this weekend.
Victoria shared her immense appreciation on social media. She wrote:
Hey y’all! I just want to take a moment to say thank you!!
Thank you for supporting local. Thank you for supporting and recommending my small business. Thank you for coming out and following us to our events. Thank you for being awesome and know, I see you and I appreciate you all! Thank you again for another amazing week. Y’all are amazing! We are beyond excited to be opening Saturday! I can’t wait to see you then!!
I was able to visit the store earlier this week and get a sneak peek inside. Naturally, the first thing I photographed was the menu board!
Obviously, Victoria and her best friend Jennifer Hodges-Kirk (who's helping her launch the business) will be rotating flavors.
I do want to point your attention to the Edible Cookie Dough. Yes! Victoria has her own recipe for cookie dough. It's completely safe to eat and SCRUMPTIOUS!
In addition to the items on the board, Sweet Temptations by Victoria will be baking up cakes, cookies and goodies for weddings, birthdays and other special events. You gotta love any business that has refrigerators that are specifically marked.
Check this out!
Yes! There's a special refrigerator for the chocolate and another one for the cookies!
But this may be favorite part of the new retail store. For me, it pretty much sums up what Sweet Temptations by Victoria is all about!
Victoria's about to fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her own bakery. It will happen this Saturday here in Owensboro. And you're invited to stop by and check out all the Sweet Temptations she's baking up.
