International Bar-B-Q Festival

Some of the most competitive professional eaters in the world are in Owensboro this weekend for the World Mutton Slider Eating Championships.  And Angel and I had the chance to chat with Joey Chestnut about the contest and how he's preparing to eat 10 pounds of mutton (or more) in ten minutes!

The sights, smells and sounds of the 39th Owensboro International Bar-B-Q Festival will be taking over downtown this weekend, but one staple cooking team will be missing that’s participated for all 39 years.

The tristate's premiere talent contest, The Battle for the Big O, returns THIS Saturday.  We are holding our first audition of the season at the International Bar-B-Q Festival in downtown Owensboro.  It's going to be an amazing day and it gives YOU the chance to perform at the Bar-B-Q Fest AND get a shot at winning $1,000 and opening the 2017 Big O Music Fest at Reid's Orchard, July 8th.

This year's International Bar-B-Q Festival will give a whole new meaning to the term "mutton glutton."  The annual Owensboro event will feature the World Mutton Slider Eating Championships and some of the most famous professional eaters in the world will be here to compete.

It seems like it always rains and storms at the International Bar-B-Q Festival in downtown Owensboro and this year was no exception.  There were two big bouts of rain on Saturday.  And Friday kicked off with a bang as storm clouds rolled in and started to swirl right above the festival.  Check this out!  I happened to have my iPhone handy and things were looking a little sketchy.

It didn't take long for Jaclyn and I to find the most popular item at this year's International Bar-B-Q Festival in downtown Owensboro.  As soon as we started our broadcast yesterday, word was already spreading around the streets about the Red Velvet Funnel Cake.  Naturally, Jaclyn and I reacted like bloodhounds and immediately sniffed it out.  WATCH!

The International Bar-B-Q Festival gets underway tomorrow in downtown Owensboro and Kizzy is excited.  In fact, she called The WBKR Waking Crew this morning to tell us she is standing on the edge of glory!  LOL!  Listen.

The International Bar-B-Q Festival is Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th in downtown Owensboro.  And, if you have official business at the Daviess County Courthouse, you may have to reschedule.  There are plans to close the building early Friday.
