Exciting news for Charlotte Buskill, a 3rd grade teacher at Newton Parrish Elementary School in Owensboro. Thursday morning, she won a Milken Educator Award and $25,000!

Today is National School Librarian Day and I am celebrating by paying tribute to Bobbi Nation (top center), who was the librarian at Thruston when I was in elementary school.  Ms. Nation made books seem like magic! And, recently, I visited the school library at Newton Parrish and was flooded with memories of books that Ms. Nation introduced us to at Thruston.  And, because of her, these books are

Today is National Read Across America Day and I decided to spend the morning in the library at Newton Parrish Elementary School.  While I was there, Pancake Patty Moore (who's the librarian at the school) rounded up some students and we recited the National Read Across America Day oath.  Check this out!
