Some Winter Tubing ‘Hotspots’ in Tennessee — Who Says January Has to Be Boring?
Of all the wonderful memories I have of my childhood in Owensboro, one of top three favorites features a big hill, lots of snow, and an inner tube. (Oh, and a spooky old house, but that's just for ambiance.)
I'm a big fan of alpine slides, so tubing down a snowy hill isn't that big a jump. However, I am no longer a child, so a shallower hill and more cushioned landing point are my requests. But there's no doubt it's the time of anyone's life when they get to do it. And if you're in eastern Tennessee, you are surrounded by opportunities.
Ober Mountain Snow Tubing
Sure, you love snow tubing or you wouldn't be at Ober, but maybe you'd like to vary your activities. At Ober, you can do just that. When guests aren't tubing, you'll find them on the carousel, at the wildlife habitat, on the rock climbing wall, the scenic chairlift, the aerial tramway, the mountain coaster, or riding the ice bumper cars. You'll also want to make time for ice skating or the Cloud Catcher Zipline. By the way, whatever the local meteorologist says, it's ALWAYS snowing at Ober Mountain:
Oh, I almost forgot. Yes, of COURSE you can ski at Ober Mountain.
Pigeon Forge Snow
I know we're talking about snow tubing and year-round operations, but if you DO prefer your tubing in 60 to 70 degree comfort, then Pigeon Forge Snow is for you. And what a track:
Rowdy Bear's Smoky Mountain Snow Park
I know we're talking about livening up dreary post-Christmas winter months, but Rowdy Bear is open year-round. So if you want to break of the winter doldrums with a little snow tubing, you can. Or you can wait until school's out this spring. Your call.
Whatever your call, there's nothing like the exhilaration of tubing. Enjoy, and Happy Winter.
