Yep! That's my Thruston T-ball team way back in the late 70s. It's wild. I am still in contact with and friends with some of the guys and gals on that team. I'm not sure why we had yellow jerseys. Thruston's colors were blue and white. But we were rocking out that yellow along with those big old striped tube socks. If memory recalls, I don't think that team was particularly good. I am pretty certain we racked up considerably more losses than wins. That said, we still had fun!

Well, you and I are going to get a chance to show off that T-ball team spirit once again and relive those 'glory' days. Former Daviess County High School educator Harold Wilson is working with Kentucky Wesleyan College to organize the 50th Anniversary Celebration of T-ball in February.

WHEN WAS T-BALL INVENTED?

Now, the origins of T-ball are a little murky. Early incarnations of the game date back to the 1950s, but there are several people who claim to have invented the sport. It wasn't until the early 70s (1971 to be exact) that a trademark claim for Tee Ball was filed. In 1973, that trademark was approved. Just a handful of years later, I was decked out in that yellow Thruston Elementary School T-ball jersey learning and playing the sport.
