The Oak Ridge Boys Headline the “Christmas in Tennessee” Dinner Show in Nashville
If you're looking for an "American Made" and "Fancy Free" holiday celebration, Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville is home to it. The Oak Ridge Boys are headlining the resort's "Christmas in Tennessee" Dinner Show through Christmas Day. I had the chance to see the show Friday night in the Presidential Ballroom.
If you've ever been to a Christmas dinner show at Gaylord, you can always count on a couple of things. 1) You're going to be treated to a great night of classic country music. Past headliners include Pam Tillis, Diamond Rio, Restless Heart, Louise Mandrell and more. 2) You can count on FOOD, which is always a show star in its own right.
Showtime tonight, as it is each night of the run, was 6pm. Dinner, naturally, was served up first. We had mushroom soup (with a layer of puff pastry on top), chicken, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and a ridiculously good dessert. Think chocolate mousse covering a hidden layer of cherries!
Then, just before 7pm, the legendary Oak Ridge Boys took the stage to sing their biggest hits and, of course, some of their signature sounds of the season.
The Oak Ridge Boys have been singing Christmas music for decades, but are rarely home for the holidays. However, because of COVID-19 essentially putting national tours in park, the band got the opportunity to set up residency and play at home for the first time ever.
