The Situation Room Goes Quiet

For me, this picture speaks volumes--people whom we only ever see standing stoically in front of a microphone sitting in awe and stunned silence while some of the bravest human beings on the planet create one of the most important stories in a decade.

Their faces echo mine when I saw the crawl across the bottom of the TV screen Sunday night indicating something enormous was happening. I thought we were about to learn something horrible. I felt the butterflies build in my stomach. And then the news we've all been waiting to hear for years. Too many years.
