Theatre Workshop of Owensboro’s “The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical” Electrifies Audiences
'The Lightning Thief,' has been brought to life by the production team made up of Director Anthony Eiras, Musical Director Abby Clayton, Assistant Director Kayla Kelley, Choreographer Erin Morris, Stage Manager Tori Lewis, and many more incredible "magic makers" behind the scenes. As always with T.W.O. youth productions, the actors played a huge part in making and acquiring the costumes, props, and I know they put in hours on the magnificent set (as well as volunteers Lori Champion and Jeana West.) If you are familiar at all with mythology, you will notice so many clever details!
This story is perfect for children and teens, but it touched my heart as a grown-up as well. The themes are inspiring with lessons in courage, dealing with failure, and the importance of friendship. Not to mention, the music is so much fun and several singers left me with goosebumps!
Executive Director of T.W.O., Todd Reynolds wrote a GLOWING review,
"Tonight I watched the TWO Summer Youth production, The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical, and was simply enthralled. This beautiful story about embracing the things that make us unique and special is beautifully told (and superbly sung)! Director Anthony Eiras and his crackerjack team assembled a brilliant cast and rehearsed them to a razor’s edge. Principals Bodie Moore, Katye Clark, and Levi Ekbladh each deliver a professional quality performance. Their fellow youthful stars are joined by a talented handful of adults in supporting roles in a magical mix that is simply DIVINE in nature. (Come to the show and you’ll see what I did there…) At the final bow, they were thanked with a well-deserved standing ovation. That’s what happens when a tremendous cast, talented crew, and terrific directors come together. Be sure and get your seat to experience the odyssey for yourself."
