When you're a kid (and I'm going on the assumption kids still feel this way), there's nothing more exciting than crossing the threshold of a toy store entryway during the Christmas season. It's not like your mom and dad will get you anything; if I heard "No, it's almost Christmas" once, I heard it a thousand times regarding such establishments. Still, the magic was the magic.

Woolsey's Toys

One of my childhood dream destinations was Woolsey's Toys. It spent time in Owensboro's largest strip mall, Wesleyan Park Plaza, before moving to Towne Square Mall in 1978. I can't remember another toy-only store back then.

Toys R Us

When Toys R Us filed for bankruptcy in 2017, I wondered if toy stores were going by the wayside. Would the brick-and-mortar stores fall victim to online shopping? But Toys R Us has re-emerged both here in the tri-state (in Evansville) and at outlet malls in Tennessee. I'm not a kid anymore, but I can't imagine shopping online for toys would provide nearly the thrill as actually being inside a toy store.

Toy Headquarters AKA 'Toy Vomit' and Its Lofty Claim of Toy Supremacy

Who am I to argue when a toy store says it's the largest one in Kentucky and the American South? I have no data to prove otherwise, so I will take them at their word. But they may be right on the money, based on this preview.

And after perusing the Lexington merchant's Instagram page, I may be even more convinced that they are on to something and that their nickname is well-earned. Toy Headquarters, AKA 'Toy Vomit,' seems to target not just kids but collectors as well. In fact, the big kid who's writing this story needs to visit.

By the way, their website indicates they are always looking to buy toys, so it might be a lucrative opportunity for a seller, and not just for kids of all ages.
