If you need a lighthearted story to put a smile on your face after the storm, this will do it! It’s about a curious storm watcher, a mischievous golden retriever, and two stinky possums.

*No possums were hurt in this story! They just played dead perfectly.

JULIA, TUCKER, AND THE TALE OF TWO POSSUMS

Julia Mulhollen left her back door open to hear the storms rolling in after the severe thunderstorm warning on her phone. When her golden retriever Tucker woke from his peaceful slumber, that's when chaos began. While she busied herself with other chores, she was caught off guard when Tuck, her sweet, ever-loving pup, came trotting in, proudly carrying two possums in his mouth. Julia said Tucker gently dropped the possums in the middle of the bedroom floor to save them from the storm! They immediately laid still, playing dead with a smile on their faces. Julia had to think fast!

THE PLAN OF ACTION

This is something I would so do! I always try to be kind to insects and animals to set them free. Julia needed a quick plan of action so she grabbed a shovel to get them outside.

" I was not sending out peaceful, calm, loving animal vibes for sure! Hopefully it was humane.", Julia shared

Watching the video Julia posted to social media, you couldn't tell if the possums were stressed, but excitable Tucker, wasn’t helping with all of his excitement!

Julia added, "Tuck didn't help as he’s just an excited, too smart for his good, only wants to please me RETRIEVER."

THE AFTERMATH

After the ordeal, at 5:25 AM, she found herself mopping and steam vacuuming. When possums play dead, they become stinky, squirting a nasty-smelling goo. According to Opossum Society of the United States (OSUS), when opossums play dead, or "playing possum," they often emit a foul-smelling secretion to deter predators.  They compare it to decaying fish. It's a survival tactic to avoid being eaten.

The other one is still there. I'm so sorry. Just please forgive me!

The BEST part of the entire video!

The way Julia handled it and Tucker's excitement added to the humor.

"He thinks he was helping the opossums, by bringing them in from the storm. But hey, I guess I could ask him to never do that again!", a tired Julia exclaimed

Let Tucker be Tucker so we can all be entertained!

Thank you for sharing your story of playful chaos and incredible kindness. On a stormy day like today it was needed relief.

TUCKER IS NOW IN DOGGY JAIL

I'm sure he won't be for long!
