Are These Are the Weirdest Restaurants in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois & Tennessee
I'm a road trip kind of guy, and I don't need a reason to hop in the car and take off if the mood strikes. It runs in the family. But there's never anything wrong with picking one thing and building around it. Restaurants are good focal points with this methodology.
The Weirdest Restaurants in All 50 States
This popped up in my feed from a YouTuber named 50 States, Everything, and I was immediately drawn in. Suddenly, I'm glued to the screen and planning 50 trips revolving around restaurants, but not just any restaurants.
Is he an authority? No, I'd say not. But he's the closest thing I've got, at the moment, and these places look really weird and really cool. Let's spotlight the the selections from Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and Illinois, and take a closer look.
The Jailer's Inn Bed & Breakfast - Bardstown, Kentucky
You can sleep and eat in an old prison. What more could you ask for in a weird restaurant theme? Oh wait, I know...actual bullet holes in the wall. And, well, it's haunted. What else would expect from a creepy old jail?
The Beauty Shop - Memphis
I've heard a lot of clever ideas regarding converting certain types of businesses into restaurants. A beauty shop never crossed my mind, but The Beauty Shop in Memphis makes it work. The menu has something for every taste, and you sit under a hair dryer while you eat. And, as you might expect from a Memphis restaurant, there's a strong Presley connection.
Nevermore Union Station - Indianapolis
As a big Edgar Allan Poe fan, I'm disappointed I didn't know about this place when we were there in January. But if you're a fan, too, don't sleep on this one. The menu items are named for Poe stories, and you eat in old Pullman cars. A double theme; I'll take all you have.
2D Restaurant - Chicago
This is my favorite. In fact, 2D Restaurant might be my favorite of all 50 states. It's just like the name says...when you walk in, you'll see white walls with drawings everywhere. From my standpoint, it would be like dining inside a great big coloring book. As for the food, the menu is Asian-inspired fusion. Even better.
In the main clip from 50 States, Everything, you'll find the Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and Illinois segments, respectively, at 6:46, 7:11, 11:54, and 12:47. But don't skip the other 46. They're all worth a look and, I dare say, a road trip?
