Our friends at The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center made an exciting announcement yesterday. A new addition to the "family."

While the "command center" is located in Owensboro at 3015 Old Hartford Rd., the blood and blood products they supply are distributed to multiple counties in Western Kentucky. Christian, Daviess, Ohio, Breckinridge, Crittenden, Caldwell, Grayson, Hopkins, McLean, Trigg, Hancock, and now Muhlenberg County.
Here's what the WKRBC shared on their social media,
"Upon receiving the initial orders from Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital (OHMCH), WKRBC shipped the first blood supplies on Monday. With the addition of OHMCH, WKRBC now serves 8 area hospitals and 3 Air Evac Lifeteam locations. We thank Owensboro Health for their continued partnership and support of our localized network. When you donate blood with WKRBC, your blood is prioritized for use in Western Kentucky medical facilities to treat local patients."
This means the need for donations is bigger than ever. The first blood drive in Muhlenberg County is set for December 5th and organizers are hoping for a big turnout. In the meantime, folks are encouraged to continue to donate here in Owensboro or at various blood drives to be announced on the Bloodmobile. You can follow their Facebook page for announcements.

The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center is also hosting its annual Vein Drain this October. They go all out decorating the donation facility, the blood center team always dresses up in costumes and you're encouraged to do the same! It's fun to save lives!
